Every year Oxford Food Bank volunteers venture out to meet the people of Oxford and surrounding areas at a series of community events, and this year has been as busy as ever. August 15th saw us taking part in Elder Stubbs ever popular festival with our stand nestled cosily amongst the trees in their orchard as shown in the photo above.
Other events earlier this summer have included Oxford Low Carbon Week in Broad Street, the Botley Festival, Cowley Road Festival, and (a little bit further afield than usual) the Riverside Festival in Charlbury.
At each of these events we have taken the opportunity to talk to members of the public about the good work we do and asked them to spread the word far and wide. Of course we don’t miss the opportunity to ask for donations and volunteers too!
The summer is nearly over but we will still be popping up at events in Binsey and possibly (a bit further in the future) at a Christmas Market in Oxford. Keep your eyes peeled for the Oxford Food Bank stand at any community event you visit – you never know where you might find us.
